About the Role:
We are looking for a Python Backend Engineer to join our team in India. In this role, you will be the bridge between our data science models and our production applications. Your mission is to build, scale, and maintain the high-performance APIs that power our industry-leading revenue management tools.
While PriceLabs is known for its world-class visualizations, this role focuses on the engine under the hood: designing robust data contracts, optimizing query performance, and ensuring our distributed systems can handle the massive scale of our global property data.
Key responsibilities:
- API Development: Design and maintain high-performance REST APIs using Flask or FastAPI to serve data science outputs to front-end applications.
- Data Engineering: Utilize Pandas and Polars to manipulate large datasets efficiently and ensure data integrity across the pipeline.
- AI Integration: Design and optimize Generative AI workflows and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems to enhance our data products with LLM-powered insights.
- Schema & Validation: Implement strict data validation and settings management using Pydantic.
- Backend Scaling: Optimize backend systems for latency and throughput, including implementing caching strategies and improving SQL query efficiency.
- Distributed Systems: Contribute to the architecture of our distributed data systems to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Data Scientists to productize machine learning models and help the design team understand technical constraints.
About You:
- Strong understanding of data processing principles, algorithms, and data structures.
- At least 1 year of programming experience in Python. Familiarity and experience with flask/fast api and working knowledge of numpy, pandas/polars are a big plus!
- Strong communication skills, including the ability and willingness to explain complicated ideas in simple terms.
- Comfortable working with basic linux and networking concepts
- Experience with relational databases and strong knowledge of SQL.
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Desire to wear many hats.
Preferred:
- Experience writing product code at a SaaS company
